A proven leader with Harris County roots, Marc Cowart is running to restore integrity, transparency and accountability to the office of Harris County Treasurer.
Harris County Treasurer Carla Wyatt (elected in 2022 as a Democrat and seeking re-election in 2026) has faced three arrests since taking office. Harris County deserves better.
Harris County · Dec 2023
Galveston County Jail · May 2026
Wyatt was arrested in Houston for driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol concentration of at least 0.15% — nearly twice the legal limit. She was reportedly found passed out behind the wheel. The charge was later dismissed after a pretrial diversion program, despite bond violations including failure to install an ignition interlock device.
Wyatt was arrested and charged with misdemeanor burglary of a motor vehicle. Restaurant employees on Washington Avenue alleged she broke into an unlocked vehicle in a parking lot with intent to commit theft. The charge was presented to the Grand Jury by fellow Democrat District Attorney Sean Teare, who failed to get an indictment — despite it being said that a district attorney can indict a ham sandwich.
Wyatt was arrested in Texas City early Saturday morning on a second DWI charge. Police alleged she was asleep in her vehicle on Highway 3 at 2 a.m. She reportedly told an officer she was "in heaven" before failing field sobriety tests. She was booked into Galveston County Jail and released on a $3,000 bond. This case is ongoing.
Marc Cowart is ready to bring integrity, accountability, and real leadership to the Harris County Treasurer's office.
